Thiago Soares’ Sonatina – a trio for James Hay, David Yudes and Isabella Gasparini – was the most successful piece. Utilising mainly classical ballet steps, it created a playful feeling with shoulder roles, hand gestures and jazzy pas de bourrees echoing the bounciness of the music.
Marcelino Sambé’s untitled solo for Kristen McNally was also interesting, with abrupt contemporary movements accompanied by a recorded speech about transgender issues.
